The Cascades Golf Course
The Cascades is Soma Bay’s Golf and Country Club which provides a sporting and social focal point for the resort’s community, centering on one of Egypt’s most stunning desert links-style golf courses. The spectacular 18 hole, Par 72 championship golf course was designed by golfing legend, Gary Player. It was recently ranked the best golf course in the world outside of Europe for the third year in a row by the readers of “Golf Journal.”
The Championship Golf Course is the first Championship Course in the Middle East designed by one of the “Big Three” (Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer). The 18 hole, par 72 course offers memorable views of the lush green fairways that contrast dramatically with the rugged desert and the clear blue sea waters.
Being one of only five golfers ever to win the Career Grand Slam of Golf, Gary Player currently devotes a great deal of time to designing world-class golf courses that are both challenging and a pleasure to play.
The Cascades Club House includes extensive changing room facilities with showers, golf lockers available for rent by the day or week, a wide range of golf merchandise at the Pro Shop as well as essential rentals; golf clubs, trolleys & electric carts. There are also extensive practice facilities, including a 60 bay driving range, and several putting and pitching practice greens.
The course rating system developed by the USGA is used throughout much of the world and evaluates the difficulty of a golf course for scratch golfers. The score card contains information on all distances measured in yards to the center of the green.
